Palayag Festival

Municipality of Buenavista Guimaras, Philippines

This festival is typically celebrated every third week of January. The event presents songs, dances and musical tableau which depicts the various influences to celebrate the town’s patron saint, Sr. Sto. Niño. “Palayag” means to sail through using a water vessel.

 

Sadsaran Festival

Municipality of Nueva Valencia Guimaras, Philippines

 

This festival is typically celebrated every last week of January. Tourists can expect a kaleidoscope of dances from the old days to the present since the term “sadsad” is a common word for dancing used by Nuevalenciahanons (the people of Nueva Valencia), especially the elderly. The festival also showcases its cultural heritage and livelihood through celebrating this event.

 

Balsahan Festival

Municipality of Sibunag Guimaras, Philippines

 

Balsahan Festival in Sibunag is a celebration of immortalizing the mystical Sibunag river. The river passes through most of the town’s barangays. This river holds many interesting myths and legends, which are sure to tickle tourists imagination. Tourists can use the “balsa” in their trek to this mystical river for some satisfying discoveries.
